The MJ Plan

When you think of climbing the ranks of your field, it's easy to envision a single path, a linear progression from point A to point B.

But there's a more transformative route to consider – The MJ Plan.

Michael Jordan (MJ), a name synonymous with greatness, didn't blow the world away with his innate talent. At least not at first.

He was famously cut from his high school basketball team as a Sophomore.

His fierce competitiveness (and a growth spurt) propelled him back on the court and on a path to greatness.

From humble beginnings, he scaled the peaks of achievement – high school success, a freshman national championship in College, and six NBA titles.

Failures punctuated his journey.

Slights that he took personally.

But his story doesn't end on the court.

MJ transitioned from a player to more of a coach figure, spending many years as an NBA executive and general manager.

Despite not reaching the same heights as a talent evaluator as his playing days, he continued a relentless pursuit of growth.

The real slam dunk? His final transformation into an owner.

He reinvested his earnings from basketball and endorsements into 100% ownership in the Charlotte Hornets.

Earlier this year, he sold the Hornets for a whopping $3 billion (a 1,000% profit in 13 years).

MJ proved he wasn’t just the greatest basketball player of all time… he is in the GOAT business person conversation as well.

So, what does the Michael Jordan Plan mean for you and me?

We’ve had similar humbling beginnings.

We started as a player.

We honed our skills, pushed our boundaries, and aimed to be the best at what we do, leaving our hearts on the court.

But don't stop there.

Evolve, just like MJ.

Transition from being a great individual in a team game to a position of influence.

For me, this meant quitting my job, despite being at the pinnacle of my career, and stepping into a role of a teacher, coach, and mentor.

For over a decade, I’ve found joy in teaching, facilitating, and molding future marketing leaders.

But even that wasn't the end game.

Following MJ's footsteps, the final frontier is great business ownership.

Giving up some of my playing and teaching roles to make room for a higher calling.

You probably think about doing the same on a daily basis.

Now you have an archetype.

The MJ plan is about evolution, ambition, and, most importantly, transformation.

It's not just about being a great player; it's about becoming a game-changer at every level.

So, here's the real question.

Are you going to embrace the MJ plan and up not just your game, but your entire arena?
