Zelda wasn't the weak link

When you play The Legend of Zelda, the main character is named Link.

We're quick to write off Zelda as the princess at the end of the game needing rescue.

Have you ever wondered why the game is named after the princess and not the protagonist, Link?

Because Zelda is the BOSS.

Link, our brave hero, is on a mission to save Princess Zelda, overcoming dungeons, monsters, and challenges.

Yet, the game is called Zelda, not Link.

Why?

Because Link is the "hero for hire," employed by Zelda's company to achieve her objectives.

While Zelda may appear to be the weak link, waiting patiently for her rescue, she’s much more than that.

She has built a solid organization that runs on its own.

Even when she was kidnapped by Ganon to complete the triforce, she had people looking after her.

Link, on the other hand, battles through countless obstacles to save her, puts his life on the line constantly, and gets roped into a new adventure every time Nintendo releases a new system.

He’s a hired gun. A freelancer. Addicted to being a mercenary for the highest bidder.

A true hero.

Who would you rather be?

Princess Zelda, a strategic mastermind who set up a successful multi-national organization and can afford to hire mercenaries to avenge her (okay, maybe she should have put that money into security in the first place).

Or Link, a mercenary hero who puts his life on the line every few years for a flute and a sword?

The weakest link might just be the hero you've been playing all along.
